Sorry guys, I would have had this up yesterday, but lj kept telling me the post was too large (!!!) so I had to trim it down some.
-----
This month's challenge will see us getting down and nerdy (ooh yeah!). Sharpen your pencils and dust off your dice - we are going to delve into the world of the classic role playing game, Dungeons & Dragons, fifth edition (D&D 5e). Not to fret if it's not something you are familiar with - I've tried to make it as accessible as possible, so you needn’t have ever picked up a D20 dice to participate in this round. As in all we do in this community, we are going to play pretty fast and loose with the thematics here.
When you play D&D 5e, there are 12 classes to choose from: Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard. Your task this month is to icon subjects or play off the styles you feel embody or represent these class traits. To help you along, in addition to the visual inspiration, I've also provided a brief description of each class, paraphrased from the D&D Players Handbook. You are free to choose from any and all of the classes below. Your subjects don't have to be limited to all one class, and conversely, you are not required to have equal representation for every class shown below. Your subjects may also fit into multiple classes - that's fine too! Multi-classing is a definitely thing!
For greater distinction between the various classes, I've leant pretty heavily into the stereotypes for each class, but feel free to stretch into each of them as you see fit. That is the beauty of D&D after all - it's only limited by your imagination and creativity :)

As a general rule, monks care little for material wealth, and consider adventuring a personal test of their physical and spiritual growth. They are versatile warriors, often protecting their neighbours from monsters or tyrants. |

Paladins are guardians against wickedness, and walk a path of charity and service of others. Although many paladins are devoted to gods of goodness, their power comes as much from their commitment to justice itself as it does from their god. |

Rangers are masters of the hunt, tracking their quarry as a predator might through the wilds. Many rangers are independent to a fault, knowing that they are the first, and possibly last, line of defence. Some rangers become proficient in beast mastery, attaining animal companions to fight by their sides. |

One can't study sorcery as one learns a language - you cannot choose to become a sorcerer; you simply are, or are not. Sorcerers have no use for dusty old tomes, or pacts with demonic patrons. Their inborn magic is wild and unpredictable, manifesting in unexpected ways. |

Wizards are scholars of the arcane, and most believe that their counterparts in ancient civilisations knew great secrets of magic that have been lost to the ages. Discovering those secrets could unlock a path to greater power than any magic in the present age. |
