this is an interesting challenge and i have so many (dumb) questions.

1. if iconing a disabled character, does the disability have to be 'visible' in the icon ? (i.e. a if a character walks with a cane, would i need a full body crop or will a basic headshot do)
2. would you consider a character like john locke disabled (he is in a wheelchair before but gets his ability to walk on the island) ? if iconing him would i need a cap from pre-island time?
3. would you consider white-looking ethnicities (jews for example) to be ethnic minorities and someone to be represented in a challenge like this or would you prefer that we use actual poc characters ?
4. would you count mental health stuff like adhd, ptsd, depression etc in the groups that need representation
5. can japanese anime characters be assumed to be asian unless canon makes it clear they're not? the art styles often leaves race ambiguous so i wonder if they count as representation.

i hope these questions are not too stupid or wanky, i just wanna make sure i get this right! really like this idea for a challenge!

The disability doesn't have to be visible. As you can see in this icon,

it's just Captain Hook's face!

I personally would consider John Locke a disabled character since it's the special magic of the island that gives him the ability to walk. But I would also leave this up to your interpretation. You can icon pre-island, on the island, or post-island.

Again, your interpretation! There are many biracial people who look very white (Halsey, for example, and also Lana Parrilla who is Puerto Rican but looks SO WHITE), and a Jewish character who may be racially white is still a minority in my opinion. I tried to include a lot of different kinds of minorities here, so you don't only have icon non-white people. In general, I think most entertainment is white, straight, able-bodied, thin, and Christian, so anything not that is diverse imo. But, again and again, it's up to your own interpretation. :)

Mental health is a good one! I hadn't considered it, and didn't think to look for that kind of representation, but given what I just said, I would absolutely include it. There's such a stigma attached to any kind of neurodivergent person, and while I think their representation is horribly painted in broad strokes, I do think their representation matters. If you want to go in this direction, go right ahead!

I don't know much about anime, but if you think the character is outside of the mainstream - being white, straight, able-bodied, thin, Christian, and/or neurotypical - I say go for it! I don't think the character has to look a certain way. It's what they are.

Hm, that's tricky! I think if a character is straight, then that doesn't really count. :/

Sorry this may be a silly question but if the character is white but is known to be lesbian as a character, I can still icon them?
